CV Kees Sietsma
Kees Sietsma (born in 1945) started as at 1st July 2005 his own Consultancy and Investigations Bureau concerning security and crisis management issues. Before this recent career switch he served Control Risks Group Ltd, a reputable business risks consultancy group, since 1992. During 2001 -2005 as a Director Special Projects for Group’s Management in London, United Kingdom after 1,5 years (1998 - 1999) as General Manager of the Response Division of Control Risks Group in London and five years’ (1993 - 1998) performance as Managing Director of Control Risks Benelux B.V. in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
Kees Sietsma is a former Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Force of The Netherlands in Amsterdam and served the Dutch community during 22 years as a senior police officer (1966 - 1988). In this capacity he was in charge of various large-scale international investigations, such as homicides, kidnaps, extortions, various natures of organized crime, corruption, terrorism, etc. and initiated nation wide several new law enforcement developments such as crime analysis and undercover policing management. He is a graduate of the F.B.I. National Academy in Washington (U.S.A. 1976).

In 1987 the Queen of The Netherlands appointed Kees Sietsma to Knight of the Order of Oranje Nassau on request of the then Dutch Attorney General.
He has published several papers in the specialist literature, has been lecturer at the Police Academies in The Netherlands and abroad, at study institutes for the judiciary, has been visiting lecturer at various Universities, developed, organized and conducted multiple international workshops in the area of crisis and security management.
Kees Sietsma experienced 61 assignments in the area of incident management (consultancy) such as kidnap for ransom (22), product extortion (8), malicious product contamination (3) or other extortion related crisis situations (28), in 23 different countries.
Prior to joining Control Risks, Kees Sietsma has functioned as Director Security of Philips Electronics Ltd. (1988 - 1992) and had in that capacity the world wide functional responsibility for the security of Philips’ assets, human capital and information.
In 2002 and 2003 Kees Sietsma acted during 10 months as secretary (full time project manager) of the Netherlands state commission of fact-finding inquiry security and protection of the Dutch politician Pim Fortuyn, who has been assassinated on 6 May 2002.
He speaks and writes Dutch, English and German fluently, has a basic understanding of French and Spanish and is computer literate.
